The game's point was NEVER to be about people shooting people constantly. You know, it's almost safe to say it's american idiots who ruined the game. Like in real life? You made me fucking Lol. Safe to say I won't be playing on public hive servers again. and I tell you, it's way more fun than the BS trolling of the ridiculous amount of a-holes on public hives. Trading works, robbery and banditry works. Just went to the trading camp with a friend, driving a bus and there was at least 10-15 people, 4 cars parked and a heli refueling when we arrived. Not a single shot was taken by any of us, as they totally got the drop on me. Got robbed of my gun and bag by 2 bandits when I was alone. Now I've played for around 10 hours on the RP server and I've had moments so insanely epic it's ridiculous. Just PvP call of duty kiddies, never making any contact with anyone else. Might I also say that I played for 60+ hours on public servers without seeing a friendly. Oh and funny, the RP server I just played on, that just got a huge safezone trading hub with vehicle fueling and fixing today is 3rd most famous DayZ server right now.
Yeah, as long as you don't join one of those servers, you're free to do whatever you like. You get this warning due to this being your first post. Yeh in all seriousness this idea isn't going to be popular. See i don't care about the human survival, so can i just kill on sight? :D Obviously this needs more fleshing out if it were to actually be implemented, but I think it could be a good direction to create a better experience for those who want more of an RPG instead of an FPS deathmatch. caring about the survival of the human species, recognizing strength in numbers, etc. In these servers, players would be expected to treat their characters as they would act in real life, i.e.
So a suggestion I have on how to limit this for people who want ultra-realism and still maintain things the way they are for those who just want a PVP game is to label some servers as RP servers. In a real zombie apocalypse, I don't think MOST people would do that. However, it pisses me off that 90% of players shoot survivors on sight. Let me start off by saying I think the ability to be killed at any time by other players is one of the things that makes DayZ so amazing and intense.
